Estate Syrah Accolades

2014 Vintage

93 Points - 2014 Estate Syrah, Eola-Amity Hills
"Highly perfumed scents of black and blue fruits, Indian spices, pungent flowers and cola, joined by a smoky nuance that builds in the glass. Palate-staining blackberry and boysenberry flavors show very good depth, and exotic violet pastille and black pepper nuances add complexity. Finishes smooth, spicy and warm, displaying lingering notes of sweet dark berry liqueur and gentle tannins."

"Dark reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of blackberry compote, leather and tobacco lead to a middleweight style wine that drinks like a Pinot Noir. Flavors of blueberry and blackberry are strikingly glorious and nicely spiced with a peppery note. Balanced fine tannins make for easy approachability and my only nit is a hint of alcoholic warmth on the finish. A wine like this makes you think that Oregon should be doing more with Syrah crafted in a cool climate style."

2014 Vintage

92 Points - 2013 Estate Syrah, Eola-Amity Hills
"Inky ruby. Spice- and mineral-accented black and blue fruits, pungent flowers, olive and minerals on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, sweet and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated blackberry and bitter cherry flavors that turn smokier on the back half. The dark berry and floral notes echo on a sappy, very long finish that's given shape by dusty, slow-building tannins. There's a good dose of Old World character here, but nothing in the way of rusticity."

2014 Estate Syrah

The wine has expansive aromas of ripe black and blue fruits, green and black peppercorns, olive tapenade, bacon fat, violets and garrigue.  Medium bodied on the palate, the blackberry fruit is pronounced and combines with morello cherries, Asian spices and smoky charcoal tones.  Cola berries and black currants linger through a long finish with fine and integrated tannins.
